Some families have asked about items for school.  You don't NEED to provide anything for your child; however, we do have items that we frequently run out of that you may send in if you choose to donate them to our classroom.

Here are some of the items we tend to use a lot of:

  • fabric
  • hand sanitizer
  • tissues
  • plastic baggies- various sizes
  • glue sticks
  • old newspapers

We gladly take items for our room and appreciate your support!

Helpful Information

Communication:

~ We can communicate via e-mail.  My email is jkey@RSU14.org  I check my e-mail every day, but am not always able to check it throughout the day.  If email is not an option or if you need to reach me sooner, you can call the office and leave a message or you may ask to speak to me directly between the hours of  7:45-8 am or 3:-3:30 pm.

~ Every Friday, your child will bring home an Eagle News envelope containing all notices and some of his or her school work.  Please return the empty envelope on Mondays.

~ There is a classroom communication board in the classroom where I will keep extra forms and printed newsletters if needed.  In order to save paper, I will try to provide as much information as possible on this website and through weekly emailed newsletters.

Volunteering:

Volunteers are welcome and are an important part of our Kindergarten program.  We usually start volunteers in October.  Volunteers will be needed for both in school and at home projects.

Specials:

Art with Ms. Warren: Tuesday (please provide an old t-shirt as a paint shirt that we can keep at school)

Library with Mrs. Allen: Wednesday (books can be returned on Monday with the Eagle News, or you may wait to send them in on Wednesday morning)

P.E with Mr. Stone.:  Thursday (don't forget sneakers)

Music with Mrs. Cash-Cobb:  Friday

Snack/Lunch:

~ Please notify the nurse if your child has any food allergies!

~ We will have snack every morning around 10 am.  Each child must bring his/her own snack.  We do have a few different allergies in the classroom, so there is absolutely no sharing of foods within the room.  Milk is available at an additional charge; it is not offered as free or reduced for snack.

~ Please fill out the Kindergarten breakfast, lunch, and milk paper each week.  This will help me know what your child needs/ has in regards to school lunch and milk.

Other Information:

Personal Belongings:  Please label your child's backpack, jackets, boots, hats, etc. and send in extra clothes in his/her backpack in case of accidents.

Recess: Children go out for recess almost every day.  Please make sure they have appropriate outside clothing.

Book Club:  Our class will participate in a Scholastic Book Club; however, purchasing of books is completely voluntary.  Order forms are sent home monthly, in case you are interested.  Every book ordered earns the class bonus points which are used to provide new books for the class.

Special Days: We will be celebrating birthdays by singing to the child and giving him/ her a card and pencil. Please do not send in any food for his/her special day.  This is part of the school's policy, and we do have children in the room with various allergies.
