Information for February 3, 2012

Dear Parent, Guardians, and Students,

Last Friday during early release the school as a whole began in earnest to address issues of harassment and sexual harassment.  This effort brought each team into discussions that freely supported  teaching that will address these issues at Windham Middle School.  Additional assistance was forthcoming from the high school by a team of students who worked directly within eighth grade and it is the intention to invite this team back to continue their work. In March we have enlisted the BoystoMen of Maine organization to work with sixth and seventh grade students in a similar manner.  We are as a school committed to this endeavor

The first trimester of study is quickly pushing toward completion. With its completion coming on March 9th  it frames the time when 8th grade will begin the process of high school registration for next year and when all students will celebrate their learning with parents during portfolio conferences.  Those conferences are scheduled for later in March.  Information to eighth grade parents will be forthcoming before February vacation.

I would like to remind all parents of the following:

All students dropped off by parents before 7:00AM, including those at Field Allen must report to the cafeteria to await the start of school.  The only section of the middle school open at that time is the main building.

Please remember that block 5 is a regular instructional block for students and the only time when band. chorus, and orchestra take place. We ask that you consider this when making afternoon appoints for your child.

NECAP scores for all middle school students have been returned to the school and will be mailed to all parents very shortly.

On behalf of the staff and myself, I wish all a safe and great weekend!

Dear Parents of 8th graders.

We are looking for class photos from the Primary or Manchester school that we can add to the yearbook. We only need about 4. I will scan then and return them right away. I will need them no later then Wednesday February 8th. If you have them in digital form already please email them to me at jlanoie@rus14.org
