Polar Regions Unit
By Mrs. Morton's 4th Grade Class
Manchester School, Windham, Maine
Our class has been studying polar regions. We have studied the climate, global warming, early explorers, habitats and wildlife. We have done many experiments and re-enacted polar travel outside by pulling each other on sleds! Our school has been recycling paper and bottles. So we decided to build an igloo out recycled milk jugs for our class. Check out the pictures of it as it was built!! It is cool to sit in and read. It reminds us of the snow cave that explorer, Douglas Mawson, used in 1911. His cave was called Aladdin's Cave because when the sun shown on the ice, it glowed. In the afternoon, the sun comes around to our room and the igloo glows too!
