Greetings from Mrs. Ledoux and the Title I Crew!
I am new in this Standards-based position at Manchester School after completing my yearlong school psychology internship in the Windham School Department last year. Prior to that, I had taught for 25 years in MSAD 15 in both general and special education, grades K through 3. I have the most grand Title I teaching staff in all the land! These very qualified people are Barb Maurais, Sarah Zima, and Stephanie Lauer. We also work closely with the Title I Mathematics Teacher, the very talented Danielle Butler, who will be receiving her Master’s degree next month from the University of Southern Maine in the Professional Teacher program.
Title I of the Elementary and Secondary Act of 1965 works to improve the academic achievement of all students. As mentioned above, we provide the services in both the areas of reading and math. To address reading here, students receive remediation in a variety of ways. We currently have small groups in several research-based programs, two of which are Reading Street and My Sidewalks. These two reading programs complement each other in a variety of ways, including social studies and science themes. The programs also include work in phonics, fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary.
In addition, laptop interventions are provided each day with two additional programs: Read About (emphasis on comprehension skills) and Lexia (emphasis on phonics). We pride ourselves with flexibility in programming which allows for the best use of each student’s time and a continual examination of each student’s progress in all reading areas. Please do not hesitate to contact one of us for further information about Title I at Manchester School!
