Student Outreach is compiled of 15 Windham High school students in grades 10 through 12, who participate in a Special Friends program in the elementary schools, conduct peer awareness programs and participate in community outreach projects during the holiday season .
Members meet every Thursday and participate in a summer retreat program, put on Windham High school's Halloween Dance, attend the statewide Maine Youth Action Network conference and present at the yearly Manchester School Health Fair. Each member is paired up with a young student to mentor and promote community and student bonding. By going into the classrooms of the elementary schools once a week, the members are a constant source in their buddy's life. As a group we also come to school on Freshman day in order to reach out to the students and be of aid, while continuing this aid throughout the year, and especially to transfer and exchange students.
Members of this group are expected to be positive school and community role models and an interview process is necessary for selection.
New projects are forming like promoting the 5210 program and a healthy garden for the school!
