Gaining Experience to play in the outdoors
Mission Statement:
The Windham Outing Club exists to give Windham High School Students an opportunity to safely immerse in diverse environments and learn basic and technical outdoor skills. Through these experiences students will gain an appreciation and respect for each other and the environment as they develop leadership skills and discover self-awarness.
Goal:
The goal of this club is to give students opportunities to safely participate in sports and activities created around, on, and in, natural playgrounds.
Activities:
Over the last several years club members have had the opportunity to go hiking, mountain biking, sea kayaking, white water rafting, rock and ice climbing, canoeing, snowboarding, Nordic, Alpine, and Telemark skiing, and much more. The much more include workshops on how to wax ski's and snowboards, how to build snow shelters, team building experiences, how to plan a trip, how to cook in the woods, how to gain confidence through skill building, and how to bring the community together by sponsoring guest speakers.
