Area students care for trout eggs during winter - from The Windham Eagle

In the beginning of February, several middle and high schoolers in the region were given a huge responsibility to raise trout from eggs. Windham Middle School and Jordan-Small Middle School from RSU 14 were among the 20 schools throughout Southern Maine that will take care of these fish for three months.

From the very start of the season, the Windham varsity boys’ basketball team showed they had what it took to go all the way. On Saturday, March 2 at the Cross Insurance Arena in Portland during the AA state championship against Gorham, Windham fought hard for 32 minutes – forced overtime – and came away with the first gold ball in the program’s history after a 62-58 win.

Windham boys’ varsity basketball coach Chad Pulkkinen has been honored as 2024 North AA Coach of the Year by the Maine Association of Basketball Coaches. He describes the award as a representation of his team and says he gratefully shares it with his players and assistant coaches George McCrillis, Geoff Grigsby, and Noah Estey.

RSU14 District Vision

RSU 14 serves the beautiful Sebago Lakes communities of Windham and Raymond, which are located twenty minutes from Portland and thirty minutes from the cities of Lewiston/Auburn.

The six schools that comprise our district are dedicated to the success of all, including the 750 staff members and the 3200 students.

Our school community hires only the most committed teachers who embrace the use of technology and 21st century teaching and learning standards to ensure the highest quality education. We seek to support, engage and develop high expectations for all students and staff members, and offer multiple opportunities for a rich and individualized educational experience.

New and experienced teachers are provided multiple opportunities for professional growth, and partnerships with four local universities foster the belief that we are a community of learners. Consistently our students test above the state averages, exceed graduation rates and 86% of our students continue with post-secondary study.
